Nuclear's Role as part of a Combined Solution to Energy Supply

Posted by Warrickneff - February 22nd, 2009

I'm going to write my opinions on the above soon.

Maybe if I have a couple hours to spare.

Topics : Safety
Proliferation
Waste

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS NUCLEAR WASTE. DON'T EVEN TEMPT ME BY CLAIMING THERE IS.

EDIT: I know it's been like 2 months. I honestly haven't bothered with NG for a while now anyways.

What do you call the barrels of radioactive material allegedly buried deep in the earth so as not to damage the environment?

Fuel that we haven't found a way to use. Yet.

Give it 100, 200 years. Imagine not knowing what electricity was 100 years ago, and think of what we'll be able to do!

I haven't found time to really write my little dissertation. I'll explain it more then hopefully.

:D lol.

Hm mm,touchy topic, nuclear safety has been a top concern for scientists and environmentalists world over especially since Chernobyl,
Proliferation, that's even touchier, more political and diplomatic than you think
Waste.....OK going by what you say 'there is no such thing as nuclear waste', so what is the actual by-product of the standard U-235 fission chain reaction?
P.S. I was going to tempt you by claiming there is nuke waste...

Anything that is a by-product of U-235 fission has potential to be used as a fuel source in the future.

Burying the stuff is the STUPIDEST thing you could ever consider doing with something so valuable. Uranium is a non-renewable resource just like oil or coal. We're going to hit peak Uranium someday, and having to dig that shit up in 100-500 years is going to be an unpleasant task, so we should keep it around and find uses for it in alternative style reactors.
